The pandemic has taken a toll on all of us. Everyone is suffering from one problem or the other. And especially we—the youth, we have ruined our routines, we often feel anxious and depressed. This majorly happens because we have a lot of time in our hands and instead of utilizing it, we are wasting it overthinking and mindlessly scrolling through social sites.

Here are some things that have helped me to deal with the pandemic and to be distracted from all the negativity that is around. I hope they help you too.

Ø  ONE HOUR STUDENT:

This one is my favorite. I learned this point from a podcast of ROBIN SHARMA. Wherein you devote one hour of your day learning something.

  • We must always keep enriching ourselves with knowledge despite our age. It is very important to be continuously in touch with new events, discoveries, interesting inventions, and other developments regarding economic, political, and cultural developments that are happening all over the world. But learning is not only confined to all these topics!

You can also:

            · Read books.

· Listen to podcasts.

· Watch informative videos on YouTube. Some channels which I like are        ‘Brightside’, ‘business insider’ etc.

· Learn more about something you have an interest in.

· Read newspaper.

           · Read magazines.

I block at least one hour of my day to learn something new. Time blocking is a very effective way to inculcate new habits.

You can check these videos, they are really informative and are my personal favorite:

Ø  GRATITUDE JOURNALING:

Gratitude journaling is one of the best habits to inculcate in our routines. Many people in this world are deprived of something or the other that you have but don’t value enough. Gratitude journaling helps you to reflect on and record the positive aspects of your life, daily.

Gratitude is associated with greater happiness.

You may write 3 things that you’re grateful for in the morning after waking up or at the night before sleeping. I like to do it in the morning. It forces your brain to focus on the brighter side of life and deal well with adversities.

Ø  READ-ONLY VERIFIED NEWS:

Watching and reading a lot of news can have a very negative impact on your mental health because you’re storing all that information in your subconscious mind.

News from unverified sources can negatively influence our thoughts. So lessen the number of times you watch or read news and make sure that the news is from a verified source. Also, avoid talking much about the pandemic.

Ø  START SOMETHING YOU WANTED TO DO FOR A LONG TIME:

We have got all this time to ourselves, there are very few distractions. We can’t go out and no one can visit us. So you’ve got quite a lot of time, isn’t it?

I always had this in my mind that I want to start something or do something which could create value and inspire people in some way, hence blogging. My exams were postponed and I had quite a lot of time to myself, therefore I am devoting my time to do something different and challenging!

This time is never gonna come back. So utilize it and start something, do something that can help you in the years to come. Either start laying the foundation of your career or you can work on something that can make your current venture a more successful one.

E.g. if you want to become a content creator then start forming an outline of your content – what is going to be your genre, how will you present your work, what is going to be the platform you’ll choose to upload your content, draw information from different sources and if you’re already a content creator then try to be a little more active, work on something unique that you could offer to your audience, try different tactics to increase your reach.

Ø  BE IN CONTACT WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY:

Talking to friends, family and your loved ones gives you a sense of warmth.

You can build a strong and positive relationship with your friends and family by being in constant touch with them.

You can also revive your relationships with old friends; it improves your emotional wellbeing.

You can start working out, painting, cooking, etc. on video calls with your friends and family. Things become more interesting and less monotonous when you have a companion to do activities with.

Ø  MEDITATE:

Meditating brings a sense of serenity and stability. It stirs positivity in an individual. If meditating feels boring to you, you can simply visualize your dreams and desires by just closing your eyes.

Visualization is an effective tool for applying the law of attraction. You can visualize absolutely anything you want to achieve in real life.

You can meditate using different apps, or just simply by listening to slow music available on different platforms.

We underestimate our traditional practices which include the chanting of ‘OM’. This two lettered word has a miraculous power to clear our minds. Simply close your eyes and feel the magic!

Ø  TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY:

Taking care of your body leads to an increase in energy levels and maximizes your ability to accomplish daily goals. Moreover, it boosts your immunity. To take care of your body, you should:

·        Move your body more often.

·        Take a proper amount of sleep.

·        Do breathing exercises.

·        Eat at least three meals a day.

·        Reduce the intake of processed food.

·        Increase the intake of fruits.

·        Hydrate yourself.

·        Eat green leafy vegetables.

·        Do 1-week of healthy-eating challenges with your friends and family.

Just be home and be safe!

Ø  GET A HOBBY:

Hobby helps you to remain creative, distracted from the negative and it increases productivity. It helps to generate and recognize new ideas and

possibilities.

·        You must never judge your hobby. It should not be something that is always recognized by society like playing instruments, painting, etc. hobby can be absolutely anything that you like. E.g. doing makeup, making up jokes, solving puzzles, doing MAT, etc.

·   Anything that boosts your creativity; helps you to explore new horizons, forces your mind to think is a hobby.

·    Invest some time in your hobbies and who knows you might even think of pursuing it in the long run!

Ø  MAKE A ROUTINE:

We have ruined our routines a big-time due to the pandemic. There is no predefined time to sleep and to wake up which can take a toll on our mental and physical health and can trigger anxiety. Implementing a structure to your day gives you a sense of control.

It is scientifically proven that when we sleep, wake up, eat at the same time every day our bodily functions and cycles operate efficiently; keeping our system strong and energized and increases our immunity, which is the need of the hour!

So you must fix a single time of waking up and falling asleep to reduce stress levels and it also, in turn, increases productivity because when you wake up late the major part of your day is already wasted and your productivity is bound to fall.

MOST IMPORTANTLY THINK POSITIVE, FEEL POSITIVE, AND TALK POSITIVE. This too shall pass. You cannot control the situations but you can absolutely control the spirit with which you deal with it!

Just remember that we all have to face this situation anyway, so why not deal with it with a good spirit rather than being all negative and sad.

Stay home, Stay safe! Wear your masks and wash your hands frequently.

Thank you for reading I hope that now you'll be able to deal with the pandemic, do share your takeaway in the comments!
